2004年高考湖北卷第24题、福建卷第35题、天津卷第32题都考查到了强调句型。下面让我们进一步了解其特点、解题方法及常考题型。
一、特点与解题方法
“It is/was＋被强调部分＋who/that...”这种结构叫强调句型，用来突出强调句子的某一部分，这一部分通常是句子的主语、宾语或状语。判断句子是否为强调句型，只需将其中的It is/was和who/that去掉，若句子结构完整，则是强调句型。
例1 It was with great joy______he received the news that his lost daughter had been found.（福建卷）
A.because B.which C.since D.that
解析 去掉It was和所填词后为：with great joy he received the news that his lost daughter had been found，结构依然完整，所以为强调句型。
例2 It was evening______We reached the little town of Winchester.（天津卷）
A.that B.until C.since D.before
解析 去掉It was和所填词后为：evening we reached the little town of Winchester,evening前缺少介词，所以不是强调句型。
二、常考题型归纳
按照其句式结构，可分为基本式和变形式两种：
Ⅰ 基本式
即“It is/was＋被强调部分＋who/that...”，其中不再包含其他从句或进行任何句式变换。
(1)It_____John and Mary that often______me with my English study.

解析 本题中去掉It______及that后为：John and Mary often______me with my English.所以根据基本结构前者应填is；后者按主谓一致的原则应填help，应选C。

解析 将题中It was that/who去掉后为：Our teacher thought highly of______·根据基本结构和句中缺少宾语可判断，应选A。
(3)It was______back home after the experiment.（2004年高考湖北卷）
A.not until midnight did he go
B.until midnight that he didn't go
C.not until midnight that he went
D.until midnight when he didn't go
解析 选A应将否定词放在句首；B、C、D中midnight前都有介词，去掉It was和连词后，结构依然完整，连词应为that，排除D;not...until句型的强调应变为not until，所以选C。
Ⅱ 变形式
强调句型的变形式包括第一种简单式的变形，即将其变为疑问句形式；第二种为基本形式中还包含有句子的陈述句和疑问句。
(1)——Where was it______the road accident happened yesterday?
——In front of the market.

解析 用In front of the market代替句中的Where，然后将疑问句还原为陈述句即为It was in front of the market______the rond aecident hap pened yesterday.然后用基本方法判断：符合强调句型的特点，所以应选B。
(2)It is in Qingdao______you're going to pay a visit to______this kind of washing machine is produced.

解析 因为强调句型中还含有句子，应将其还原为两句话。按强调句型的基本方法还原。This kind of washing machine is prodaced in Qingdao所以第二空应填that；另一句为______You're going to pay a visit to为定语从句修饰Qingdao，从句缺少宾语可填which/that或省略；所以此题答案为A。
又如：It was with great joy______he received the news that his lost daughter had been found.（福建卷）

解析 同理，将其还原为两句话：with great joy he received the news和出the news that his lost daughter had been found，结构依然完整，所以为强调句型，应选D。
(3)Was it in the village______we used to live in______the accident happened?

解析 先将疑问句还原为陈述句，It was in the village______we used to live in______the accident happened；然后将句子分解为两句话，第一句按强调句型的基本方法：The accident happened in the village，所以第二空应填that；另一句为______we used to live in用来修饰village，句中缺少介词in的宾语，可填which/that省略，故答案为B。
(4)Is______48 hours______the man-made satellite______is made in our country to orbit the planet around?

解析 从句意来判断可先将陈述句写成：It takes the man-made satellite 48 hours to orbit the planet around;The man-made satellite is made in our country；然后将第一句变为强调句：It is 48 hours that it takes the man-made satellite to orbit the planet around；再变为疑问句即：Is it 48 hours that it takes the man-made satellite to orbit the planet around；第二句为定语从句修饰the manmade satellite且其中缺少主语，应填which/that，所以应选D。
(5)——I can't find Mr.Brown.Where did you meet him this moming.
——It was in the hotel______he stayed.

解析 去掉It was和所填词后为he stayed in the hotel，看似正确，但仔细看上文，答非所问。其实，此题是属于第二种，只不过是省略了强调句型的连词和从句，补充完整应为：It was in the hotel____he stayed that I met him，所以选C,where引导定语从句，修饰the hotel。
