一、案例背景
近年来,世界各地自然灾害频发、地震、海啸、洪涝、干旱等自然灾害给人类造成巨大经济损失的同时,也给受灾害的人们心理上带来了难以抚平的创伤。所以,设计本课的目的是为了让他们充分认识到保护环境的重要性。同时,在面对突发的自然灾害面前,能保持积极乐观的精神状态,从而做到从平时做起,从小事做起,来维护我们的家园———地球。而高中阶段是中学生多变的阶段也是成型阶段,教师应该抓住这个阶段学生的特点在教学中适时地进行德育教育。
二、案例设计
1.教材分析
本课是高一必修3第三模块里的一篇阅读课(Reading),出自外语教学与研究出版社出版的高中英语学生用书。在第一课Introduction里面初步接触和了解了一些自然灾害和其危害。这一课Reading是上文的延伸。文中有三个小标题,分别概括了各段的中心,并且可知文中主要介绍了两个灾难和灾难造成的让人不可思议的事件。
2.学生分析
学生在接受这一内容没有多大的难度,因为近年世界各地灾难不断,加上电视报纸的介绍和各地防御措施的采取,他们基本能了解一些灾难和危害。
3.设计思路
本堂课采用任务型教学,通过这种活动和学习,学生的自主学习得到了加强,不再认为英语的课堂学习很枯燥,而会主动参与到活动中,成为课堂的主体。同时也加强了与他人交流合作的能力,从而达到课堂活动目的。

三、案例实录

Step I Lead-in
Do you remember the day when an earthquake happened in WenChuan, SiChuan Provice on May 12, 2008?
(Yes.) And it is frightening. Besides the earthquake is a natural disaster. Now can you tell me some other natural disasters?

Step II Pre-reading:
Today we will study some natural disasters. Before studying the text, let's get familiar with some new words.
1. Match the words in the box with their definitions in two minutes in pairs of two.
(1)a lot of water in an area which is usually dry ________

(3)a lot of rain falling quickly , with loud noises and flashes of light _________
(4)the flash of light which happens during a thunderstorm ______

After two minutes, let one student read his answers out loudly.

Fast reading
Let’s come to the text. There are three passages.
1. Look through their titles and the pictures quickly and match the passages with the general ideas.
Passage 1 A the hurricane, its power and the worst hurricane
Passage 2 B a story about the 1900 Galveston hurricane
Passage 3 C the tornado and its power
After a while ask a student to display his answers.
(Passage 1----C; Passage 2----A; Passage 3 ----B)
2. Read the text fast to answer the questions in one minute.
a. What is a tornado?
(A tornado is a rotating column of air from a thunderstorm to the ground.)
b. What is a hurricane?
(A hurricane is a strong tropical storm, and it usually occurs in the southern Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.)
These two questions are easy, so I let them answer them together.
Careful reading
This text has too many new words, so work in groups of four.
1. Try to understand the first two passages and fill in the blanks in ten minutes.

四、案例分析
在课堂教学中充分利用多媒体的优势,合理增加课容量,加大了练习力度,也加快了课堂的节奏。
1.通过运用学生熟悉的话题导入,引起学生阅读的兴趣和欲望。2.整个教学过程中,始终以由易到难、由浅入深为宗旨,设计了各种题型以适应不同层次的学生,同时也练习了高考阅读中常见的题型。3.最后,通过讨论让学生对整篇文章的认识又上升到一个更高的层次,即对他们进行了很好的德育教育。
五、教学反思
整体感觉这节课上的比较成功,尤其是最后的两个阶段,可以说达到了最高潮。通过这节课,学生掌握了重要的单词和短语(新教材更注重词汇的学习),同时也提高了他们的阅读理解能力和解题能力。但是学生的口语表达不太流利,还有待提高,这也是笔者今后努力的方向。
